Carly has to be one of the most organised brides that I have met. When I arrived for her and Marks wedding, she was still organising things for the day and was loving it! Having been to over 50 dress shops, Carly eventually ended up with 2 fantastic wedding dresses. Oe for the day and one which was a surprise for everyone later in the evening. During the service, every best mans nightmare came true as one of them dropped the rings at the crucial moment. It was a great ice breaker though. After the dove release outside the church, Carly and Mark had some time together in the car journey to the hotel. On the way back to the hotel, I drove around the perimeter fence for Gatwick which gave me a great idea for a unique image later in the day (see below).

The Magician Mark Williams kept the guests amused throughout the drinks reception and after the wedding breakfast, the speeches were great. As is often the case at sunny weddings, the evening light was just beautiful. We took a few minutes to get a few extra portraits as well as the quick trip to Gatwick. The first dance was shortly followed by a game of Mr & Mrs which of course Carly won!

Aureila and Tom have travelled extensively and brought a number of influences into their wedding. When I met the boys in the morning, they were preparing the venue which had a real outdoor party theme. The campfires were set up and plenty of bails of straw to sit on. Aurelia got ready at her parents amazing house which overlooks St Albans Cathedral. The house was full of activity including the string quartet practising in a room upstairs. St Albans Cathedral is simply massive. The ceremony was in the Lady Chapel which itself is bigger than most churches yet it sits just at the end of the cathedral itself. After the ceremony, The newlyweds hopped on a bike with Aurelia sitting side saddle and they made they way through the town. They actually continued the 3 miles to the reception!

In a break from traition, the wedding breakfast was catered by their favourite Indian restaurant. It was loved by all the guests. After the speeches, everyone enjoyed the fantastic sunset and when the fires were started, the marshmallows suddenly appeared. After the first dance, the whole wedding party came outside to be entertained by Toms brother and friends on their acoustic guitars. It was a lovely finish to their garden wedding.

Saint Albans Cathedral Wedding Photography

I first met Rachel and Andy at Mark and Minoris wedding which was almost a year ago to the day. It was fantastic to go to the Lake District for a wedding. Its a spectacular place and the entire wedding party were so welcoming. Both Andy and Rachel gave their wedding parties gifts. The boys received cufflinks made from watch parts and the girls got beautiful bracelets that matched the colours of the day. Andy also broke the rule and sent Rachel a letter and a beautiful watch which she opened just before going to the church. After the ceremony, their friends from the squash club organised a guard of honor as they went to their wedding car.

Low Wood Bay is in a stunning location right on the banks of Lake Windermere. The magician and caricaturist kept everyone entertained throughout the wedding breakfast. In the speeches, Rachel was formally welcomed into Andy’s family by receiving a personalised number plate. Something they all seem to have. Andy’s speech started with the heckle ‘stand up!’ He proceeded to deliver the rest of his speech standing on his chair. I think its fair to say he was emotional delivering his speech. It was then his brothers turn to co deliver the nest men speech which had everyone massively entertained.  After a short boat ride around the lake, it was first dance time. A nervous time for many couples but as Rachel is an ex professional dancer, I think Andy was under more pressure than most. The ensuing ceilidh kept the dance floor full all night.

Greyfriars in Guildford is a lovely wedding venue. Its hard to believe that Barrie and his family live there as well as hosting weddings! It was the perfect place for for Sally and Malcolms wedding. They are a lovely couple and I love Malcolms sense of humour. Sally had the perfect dress for her day and her shoes were a real surprise. The day was really relaxed with everyone playing the giant garden games including some very competitive giant Jenga with games going on for what seemed like hours. Malcolm was quite nervous of his speech but he need not have worried it was funny and heartwarming. Baregroove provided the music in the evening. Louise, Matt and the rest of the band never fail to get the dance floor full from the very start.

I met Rachel and Martin for their pre wedding shoot the day after their Hen and Stag weekends. They both seemed oddly fresh! They love brighton so we spent some time around the back streets as well as the pier. The wetaher gave us some real drama in the images and the graffiti was amazing. Sue and Ansy are getting marrie dthis summer so we took the opportunity to return to where Andy proposed. Bucklers Hard is where a lot of Nelsons fleet was made and you can still see the dug out shapes by the water where they built the ships. It was great spending time with Andy and Sue and their son. I am really looking forward to their wedding in July. Here is a few images from the ir engagement photo shoot.

Sarah and Mike had a fantastic wedding at the same church that Sarah’s parents and sister were married at. Apparently Sarah has a thing for nice shoes and had an amazing pair of Jimmy Choo’s for her day which I believe survived the rain. The weather did hold out for them just until the en of the service when everyone swiftly left for Yew Lodge. Thank you to all the family members that huddled under the huge gazebo while we tried to get through the formal shots as swiftly as possible.

Apparently Sarah and Mike used to have a lot of Barbecues when they first lived together. In memory of this, every table had a huge array of barbecue food to share. It made for a very social wedding breakfast.  The sun made a reappearance after the meal which allowed guests to go and enjoy the grounds before the evening celebrations. From the first dance, the floor was busy with a great atmosphere.

I have been a Clearwell Castle Wedding Photographer a few times now. However, its all been raining so I was delighted when we finally had a lot of sunshine for Mike and Rhian’s wedding. I have got to know both of them over the past few months and was really looking forward to their wedding. Mike and Rhian met on a blind date and are so well matched. Guests had flown in from all over the world for their day and it was a lovely atmosphere. After the ceremony, Mike and Rhian took the walk from the church back to the castle. It was a nice opportunity for them to spend some time together before the reception drinks. All the guests enjoyed the sunshine and the gardens throughout the afternoon.

The speeches were great. There were two best men but 3 best men speeches as one of them couldn’t make it as he had had a baby that week. There was also a recorded message from Mikes dad who was too ill to travel for the wedding. As the wedding breakfast finished, we were given a fantastic sunset so we ran into the fields for a few images. The dancing at Clearwell is always great as the bar is next to the dance floor. The dancing was certain to go into the night.

On the morning of Karen and Ben’s wedding, Ben and the boys started the day in real style. After having a leisurely lunch at the Fountain Restaurant at fortnum and Mason’s, they moved on for a game of snooker at The East India Club. Karen, who got ready at Inner Temple was just as relaxed. Work has taken her out of the country for a few months but she still managed to organise a huge amount while she was away. The Rabbi flew in especially for the service and having conducted Karens Bat Mitzvah is very close with the family. Fortunately Ben managed to break the glass at the end of the ceremony with the first attempt which is always a good sign. After a relaxed reception drinks and wedding breakfast, the speeches kept everyone entertained. As a barrister, Ben had no problem in standing up and speaking to a crowded room.

I have no idea how Karen and Ben had such a choreographed first dance considering they have hardly seen each other for the last few months. They filled the dance floor with their moves which finished in a fantastic dip! One more surprise awaited Karen at the end of the first set. Ben took to the stage and sung with the full band to a huge applause from everyone.

Inner Temple London Wedding Photographer

They say you know when you have met the right person for you. David said her knew he wanted to propose after 20 minutes of meeting Sam! He held out for a few weeks until he popped the question! He asked Sams father upon their first meeting as well which must have been a nerve wracking moment! I felt so welcomed by Sams family as soon as I arrived. The mad panic that often sets in when the bride is getting ready, never really happened. The church was very close to Sams parents and the vicar knew the family very well. He even came for the rest of the day. David is developing a great career in the military which explains the guard of honour as tehy left the church.

Just before dinner, Sam and David took a few moments and had a secret first dance to their string quartet. Brides and grooms rarely get a few moments together during the wedding day. After the wedding breakfast, the speeches had just the right mix of emotion, anecdotes and tears. Bands can really lift a dance floor and ‘Get Carter’ certainly got everyone up and dancing.
