The wettest wedding I have ever known at Pembroke Lodge! The registrars for Owen and Selina’s wedding said that “A wet knot is harder to untie” well judging by the weather on the day, that couldn’t have been a more relevant comment. I have been used to it raining this summer but Sundays rain was something else. I actually like extremes of weather at a wedding and managed to get some images today that I couldn’t get if it was a nice bright day.
Seeing both of them before the ceremony, Selina was certainly the more relaxed. With her sister to help her get ready at The Richmond Gate Hotel, the room was very calm. this calmness may have contributed to her being 30 minutes late for the ceremony though.
At Pembroke Lodge, the ceremony was fantastic with the two flower girls leading the bridal precession into the Belvedere Suite. There were a total of 3 readings and lots of smiles and tears. Not wanting to get Selina’s dress damaged by the weather, I spent some time with them inside the main building itself for the couple shots. There is some amazing light that could have been missed on a day when we can go outside. The speeches were funny and touching with embarrassing stories not only about the groom but his brother as well. Owen revealed that he still had the receipt from their first date 9 years ago in his pocket !
Throughout the day, the chant of “One, One, One” was frequently heard. I only found out well into the dancing that this referred back to a challenge to do one-armed push ups. Something that Owen’s father managed 9 of on the dance floor!!! A great day and night was had by all at this wedding. Once again Pembroke Lodge has hosted an amazing wedding day.
