The Gherkin Wedding Photos
1 Landmark Venue, 3 changes of dress, 2 tea ceremonies and a fantastic crowd of family and friends. Just another day at the office really!
As with many Chinese weddings, Henry and Larissa’s day started with the boys going through all kinds of games to win access to the bride. These were the longest I have captured and some of the cruelest! Henry had to serenade Larissa from outside the apartment in St Katherines Dock. His groomsmen had to wear lipstick and create hearts on paper while doing press ups. In all, it took over an hour and a small fortune in red envelopes before Henry was allowed to see his bride.
After the first tea ceremony, the couple travelled together to The Gherkin. They had not told his parents were the wedding was so it was quite a surprise. The top two floors were theirs for the day. The ceremony was timed to perfection with the sun setting as they were pronounced husband and wife.
Guests had travelled from all over the world to celebrate the wedding so it was a lovely touch that everyone received a handwritten note at their table (including me which was so nice).
The first dance started like many do with the couple taking to the floor for a slow number. This was interrupted half way through with the biggest cheer as Gangnam Style took over and the 4 boys went through the whole routine! This set the tone for the dancing for the rest of the evening.
I hope the images convey the many elements of their day. Feel free to comment or leave a message for Larissa and Henry below.
